Year 9 Geography Sustainable Biomes Geography Excursion
On Thursday 18th May Year 9 travelled to the Bonnie Vale Wetlands to undertake a geography fieldwork excursion. On the day students explored the bush, beach and wetlands allowing them to identify the main characteristics that differentiate the world’s biomes, analyse how people use and alter biomes for food production and discuss how the world’s biomes sustainably feed the world’s population. They undertook a range of fieldwork activities including crab catching, dip net fishing and bio-indicator fieldwork. The excursion allowed students to assess the health of the wetlands, investigate the distribution and physical characteristics of biomes and discuss sustainability strategies to minimise environmental impacts.
