See, Act, Judge Workshop
On Monday, September 4th, representatives from the Student Representative Council attended a social justice workshop led by the Catholic Education Office of Wollongong. The See, Judge, Act workshop’s focus was to ‘Listen, Learn, Love - A New Engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People’. Students and teachers gathered from all high schools around the diocese to unpack the Catholic Bishops annual Social Justice Statement.
Throughout the day, students witnessed a traditional First Nations smoking ceremony. Students engaged in positive and productive conversation across schools on how to better listen, learn and love. At the end of the workshop, students painted what this theme meant using traditional Aboriginal symbols. Our school was gifted with a message stick which will be used in our liturgies to foster reconciliation in our community.
