From the Assistant Principal

Staff Professional Learning - 2nd April 2024

Our staff were involved in professional learning on Tuesday 2nd of April. Our teachers received training on how to cater for the needs of students who have an ADD/ADHD diagnosis. This was a valuable opportunity for teachers and support staff to learn more about classroom structures, lesson planning and curriculum/assessment adjustments that could be used to best cater for these students' individual needs.

Our staff also continued to work on embedding strategies for our Read, Comprehend, Respond writing project which is one of the key school improvement goals for 2024. We will continue to work together as a team to share our wisdom, experiences and passion as we continue to strive for excellence in our teaching.

Staff Professional Learning - Friday 12 April

Thank you for your understanding of the late change to the date of this Pupil Free Day. With the damage to the school, this was the best way to minimise disruption to normal school routines. Our teachers were involved in professional learning focusing on Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L) on Friday 12 April.

PB4L is an evidenced-based, organisational framework for behaviour support to enhance respectful relationships and engagement of students in their learning. It encompasses a broad range of systemic and individualised strategies and agreed practices, for achieving important social and academic outcomes for all students.

During this day, our staff reflected on our current PB4L model and explored opportunities to refine our practice, making the changes necessary to best set students up for success in their behaviour, learning and wellbeing.

Progressive Achievement Tests - Cycle 1 Reports

Last week, reports were made available to parents and students in Years 7-10 through Compass. They provide a summary of student PAT results from the Reading and Mathematics tests conducted at the start of Term 1. I encourage all families to view these reports. Please know that our teachers are using this data to best cater for the needs of all learners in their classrooms. Students will have a second test cycle in November where we will measure growth and report these results to you by the end of 2024.
