From the Principal

Amanda_Wilson.jpgLast week I had the privilege of attending the Principal's retreat at the Hermitage in Mittagong. One of the points raised really made me consider my thoughts.

It was talking about the ‘gift of indifference’. In the past I had always thought of indifference as a negative thing, it was not caring about people or things. That when we are indifferent we are not considerate to others.

The challenge of the concept of the ‘gift of indifference’ was really about knowing what matters, and what not to worry about. People who have the gift of indifference really have their lives in balance and are often moving towards goals at a faster rate than those around them as they keep the main game the main game and do not get as distracted by things that ultimately do not contribute positively to their lives.

If we actually keep to the teachings of Jesus we keep to the main game. In all aspects of our lives it can assist in reducing anxiety and help with personal growth. It is a really interesting concept to think about in our lives.

Last Tuesday I attended the first Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Year 12 student Mass with the Bishop. It was a wonderful occasion with students from around the diocese, a very moving celebration of students who are statistically above their peers in the completion of Year 12. The Bishop inspired these young people to continue to strive for life goals.

Our Year 12 students have completed their trials and are now working to gain ‘one more mark’ in every section of their papers as it will make such a difference to their final results. It is imperative that they continue to study and attend all lessons as it is their HSC and they should be striving for their personal best in every course. It is never too late to improve.

Congratulations to all staff and students who took part in the book week assembly - what a lovely celebration of the importance of reading! Thank you to our library staff for the organisation of this event. I hope you all enjoyed the photos on the socials of the event!
