House News
Welcome to the very first edition of House News!
We are thrilled to launch this regular series, designed to keep you connected with everything happening within the House community at St Joey’s.
As a parent, family member, or friend, you are an essential part of the House community. We believe that when families and friends support their students, it strengthens the House spirit and fosters a sense of unity. We invite you to engage with us and help us celebrate the achievements and milestones of our amazing students. Together, we’ll continue to nurture a community that values collaboration, achievement, and most importantly, a sense of belonging. We can’t wait to share more stories, events, and highlights with you in the coming editions!
Spotlight on the Keira House Leaders
In this edition, we're shining the spotlight on our three new House Leaders from Keira. These passionate students are excited about the year ahead. We asked them what being part of a house means to them. Check out what they had to say!

What does being part of Keira mean to you?
Being part of a house may feel like you're getting forced to hang out with a bunch of people you barely know to earn points, but it’s so much more than that. Being part of Keira means that you are part of a community that will support you to be your best, all while having fun. It gives us a reason to encourage each other, celebrate our achievements and create a place for us to belong.
Why did you choose to become a Keira House Leader?
I chose to become a Keira House Leader to increase participation and change the attitude we have towards the house system. I aspired to rise to a position where I could have an impact on how we can earn points for our house and increase the ways students can get involved, so students can make the best out of the house system. I want to work with our other house leaders and house patrons, to foster a reliable community and make being part of Keira something to boast about in the playground.
What are your particular interests as a house leader?
I am interested in creating more ways for students to be recognised and rewarded for their achievements. Through social justice and environmental initiatives, and artistic, academic and sporting recognition, I hope to keep striving for community engagement and keep the Keira spirit alive.
What are you looking forward to this term?
Some exciting events coming up include Soctober and the Vinnies Christmas appeal, both will increase community engagement. I am especially looking forward to some of the fun initiatives we have planned for Christmas in the Cola towards the end of the year. This term I hope to finish off the year with a strong kick-off into the next, Let’s Go Keira!

What does being part of Keira mean to you?
Being a part of a house like Keira is full of moments that you don’t realise are memories until later- it's a mix of fun events, lighthearted banter, and that mutual ground with your peers. It’s the little things, like cheering on someone purely because they’re in your house and wanting everyone to do the very best that they can simply because, at the end of the day, we’re all one big team.
Why did you choose to become a Keira House Leader?
I wanted to step up as a Keira House Leader because I think it’ll be fun to bring everyone together and facilitate events. I can identify the aspects we are succeeding in and I want to work towards elevating our weaker points. My overarching goal is to foster communal relationships between Keira house members and create some awesome memories.
What are your particular interests as a House Leader?
I’m excited to be involved in house events and keep the energy high in Keira. I want to coordinate activities everyone enjoys and looks forward to engaging with. But most importantly, I want to enjoy a memorable year together! (and win of course)
What are you looking forward to this term?
I’m excited to initiate some new events and see how I can bring everyone together in a fresh and fun way. I’m all about making this term one to remember, with a good mix of Keira's spirit and enjoying the moment.

Why did you choose to become a Keira House Leader?
I chose to become a Keira House leader because I'm passionate about bringing people together and creating an environment where everyone has a chance to express themselves. I wanted to become Keira's House Leader as I wanted to change the participation levels within the house system regarding sport and wanted to foster a community of inclusion and positivity. I believe leadership is about empowering others, being a central part of me, I inspire my peers to get involved and feel proud being part of Keira.
What are your particular interests as a house leader?
As Keira House Leader, my key interests lie in enhancing participation across all areas of our house, including sports, environmental initiatives and social activities. I’m especially focused on increasing involvement in our sports events, ensuring that everyone feels encouraged to participate, regardless of their experience level.
What are you looking forward to this term?
This term, I’m looking forward to seeing Keira House come together with more enthusiasm and drive than ever. I’m excited about organising events and fundraisers that foster our Catholic ethos. I'm extremely excited and looking forward to the team spirit and Keira rising to the top and finishing the year strong.
