Dear St Joseph’s Catholic High School - thank you for welcoming me into your community.
Firstly, I want to acknowledge the 37 years of teaching and career guidance provided to the students of St Joseph’s by Ms Kennedy. An incredible legacy and something I will strive to uphold. I look forward to working closely with all students, and their families, to help them achieve their career aspirations and realise their potential.
This week I met with the 2025 Year 12 cohort to discuss various programs and upcoming events being held at the University of Wollongong (UOW). Details of which can be found below. James Terry, UOW Parent & School Engagement Specialist, will visit St Joseph’s and conduct a QandA session with our new Year 12 students in the Library on Wednesday 6 November (Week 4).
The St Joseph’s Careers social media accounts are back up and running. I will post careers/post-school pathway related events and opportunities on a regular basis. I encourage all students, parents and carers to follow these accounts. Links below:

University of Wollongong upcoming events:
Event name: 2025 Year 12 Summer Master Class Program
Summer Master Class applications are now open! With eight subjects to choose from, the three-week Summer Master Class program allows students to complete a university subject during January 2025.
All subjects will be delivered in person at UOW Wollongong Campus, including some online elements
Date/Time: Applications open from Monday 14 October – until 11:59pm Sunday 10 November 2024
Who: Newly commencing Year 12 students for 2025
Location: UOW Wollongong Campus. from 6 January – 24 January 2025, with an Orientation Day on 10 or 11 December 2024
Cost: $450 (compared to HECS fees between $555 – $2040/ subject). Students who meet criteria outlined on the UOW website, including regional, rural and remote students, can apply for a fully supported place, which will allow the fee to be waived.
Application Process: Applications are open and will close at 11.59pm Sunday, 10th November 2024. Students can apply via the Summer Master Class website.

Event name: Maths & Physics Support Sessions
Year 11 and 12 students studying Mathematics Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2 and/or Physics. UOW’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences are hosting FREE weekly drop-in sessions to assist you with your HSC studies on the Wollongong campus.
Bookings are essential and places are limited, find out more and register

2025 YEAR 12 DISCOVERY DAY UPDATES
ALL Year 12 students at St Joseph's are invited to attend the Discovery Day on 18 February 2025. It is an opportunity to experience a day in the life of a university student. Transport will be provided to and from the University.

Cost: Free
Students will need to register for specific activities they are interested in. Registration for these activities will open on the week beginning 4 November, 2025 via this link - more details to come.
