Congratulations to all our participants in Illuminate. This event celebrated the Creative and performing arts of the Diocese. It was wonderful to see the gifts of talent that exist and are being so well displayed. We sincerely hope that this event becomes an annual celebration of talent. We are grateful to our CAPA staff who so ably contributed to the staffing of the event.
Bullying has been a feature in the media over the last couple of weeks. As a school we have been running information events on the ‘isms’ and how it impacts’ the individual and that there is zero tolerance from staff to any form of, basically, putting other people down… this is not comedy if you are on the receiving end of discrimination and bullying. A fight is not bullying, just because someone doesn’t like you - that isn’t bullying, bullying is the insidious ongoing comment, put down or exclusion.
The school will take action on all reports of bullying. In this arena, bystanders can make a difference, call out inappropriate behaviour towards their friends, and report it when they need assistance. The school also offers counselling to students and ongoing check-in support for monitoring.
Unfortunately, the social media trends promote bullying as humour - it is not. Speak up, speak out and together we can make our community a safer place for everyone.
As a Catholic school who is modelled on the teachings of Jesus, it is particularly appalling in our setting as Jesus taught about tolerance and acceptance of all people regardless of their ethnicity, gender or beliefs…. He welcomed all to follow and join him who believed in a world of peace, justice, love and compassion. Every time we look after or help someone we are acting on the teachings of Jesus and making the world a better place.
Our SRC is working diligently on our Christmas in the Cola event that is coming up to help fundraise for Vinnies Christmas appeal. We are looking forward to the goodies on the day so save up!!!
Students will participate in PAT testing in the coming weeks. Please make sure you read the information that is sent home through the COMPASS notification. This is an important measure of student growth for the year and the results will be sent home to parents.
Important Update - Carpark Construction Has Commenced
Construction of our carpark extension has now commenced. Please see the attached map for changes to student pedestrian access and parking.
There will be no parking on site for parents, students and visitors for the remainder of 2024.
For safety reasons, students are to follow the temporary pedestrian access as drawn at all times. There should be no walking or riding of bikes/scooters on the driveway.
We encourage Year 11 students to use existing bus services where possible as parking on Macquarie Street and Church Street will be limited during this construction period.
Please be alert to vehicle movements at all times, in particular trucks and other vehicles on the school driveway.
