The School Musical for 2019 is “You’re History”. Production week is next week July 3-6 at Roo Theatre Shellharbour. If you haven’t already purchased your tickets please hurry as they are selling fast. Many of our talented students have fulfilled two terms of rehearsals both on Mondays and Wednesdays after school and some full Sundays to bring this production to life. We look forward to seeing the show which will be a rewarding experience for all involved. Thank you to our dedicated staff for your continued support of our students with the school musical in 2019.
Choir rehearsals with Mrs Mercieca are being held on Tuesday next term at lunchtime in room E01. New members are always most welcome to attend.
Card Art club will be continuing on Thursdays at Lunchtimes. Students interested should attend in room E03 with Mrs Berto. New students always welcome.
St Joseph’s are currently running acoustic guitar tuition in small groups, an opportunity for students who are interested in learning this instrument to do so at school. The students are being taught by Glenn Whitehall, and will continue on Thursdays next term. A small fee is charged to cover the tuition. This is a fabulous opportunity for students to gain some experience in playing an instrument. Parents and /or students are invited to contact Mrs Burns to find out more info regarding costs and times etc for guitar tuition.
Students in Year 12 who are completing HSC courses in Visual Art, Music and Drama are currently very busy preparing for their HSC practical examinations which will take place mid next term. There are a range of areas our students are focusing on including performances, practical submissions and Bodies of Work all of which involve many hours of commitment and persistence in order to resolve. We wish Year 12 well as they move into the final stages of their Creative Arts courses next term.
Students in Years 7 to 11 have been undergoing a range of assessments leading up to the completion of Semester 1. There have been many examples of very successful work submitted in this period, with students engaging in their learning in meaningful ways and attempting to extend their potential through honing skills and refining work. Well done.
Congratulations to Molly Sumner in Year 11 Photography who has been awarded a Certificate of Merit in the Ilford prize for Photographic practice. Her piece “ Paper Bark” shown here, is a black and white photo utilising the elements of texture and form from the natural environment. Well done Molly.
