From the Principal

Welcome back to Semester Two. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to ‘reset’ for a new reporting period. I encourage all students to set goals and work towards the best possible learning outcomes they can achieve. Next week we are launching the Aspiring /Elite Athlete program followed by the Elite Academic program. I am very excited by the opportunities that these programs will offer the students of St Joseph’s. So keep an eye out for all details coming your way.
On Monday’s assembly I spoke to students about the responsibility of being a member of the community. Every student should be able to come to school and talk to whoever they want to. I believe that we only have a handful of close friends but have lots of acquaintances. This enriches our lives so we need to be open and engaging with everyone who comes into our sphere in a classroom and be discerning with our relationships. Over a 1000 Facebook or Insta friends are not our nearest and dearest - they are just people who we are acquainted with - we need to invest in our face to face relationships with casual conversations and just even acknowledging others with a hello. So that is the challenge I put to all students - know the people in your class better and give everyone an opportunity to know you better as well.
