From the Principal and Assistant Principal
As Term 2 comes to a close, so does Semester 1. I would like to thank all members of our St Joseph’s community for your continued support and engagement throughout what has been a rewarding and positive term. It has been a period marked by academic achievement, rich co-curricular experiences, and the daily efforts of students and staff to live out our school values. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or on the stage, our students continue to demonstrate pride in themselves, in their learning, and in our school.
One of the key events this term has been the completion of Semester 1 Reports for Years 7-10 and the opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their child’s teachers during our Parent-Teacher Interviews. These conversations are vital in strengthening the partnership between home and school and ensuring every student is supported to achieve their personal best.
We also take this opportunity to celebrate the exceptional sporting success of our students across multiple disciplines. Whether it’s been on a court, field or track, our Joey’s students have represented our school with pride, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship.
This week saw the curtain rise and fall on our long-awaited school musical, Legally Blonde Jnr, which brought joy, energy, and immense talent to the stage. Congratulations to our performers, backstage crew, and dedicated staff who brought this production to life. It was a true celebration of student creativity and commitment and another example of staff going above and beyond to provide opportunities for our students.
Academically, we were proud to share our Year 9 NAPLAN results. The cohort demonstrated the strongest growth in NAPLAN results across the Diocese in all five domains combined – Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Spelling, and Grammar & Punctuation. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the hard work of both students and staff, and a strong indicator that “learning is alive” at St Joseph’s.
As we close out the Term, I’d like to extend my best wishes to our Year 12 students who are now entering their final term of high school. The road to the HSC can be demanding, but it is also a time filled with growth, achievement, and lasting memories. We continue to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Please use this term break wisely as an opportunity to prepare yourself for the Trial HSC Examinations that will commence in Week 3.
To all students and families, I encourage you to take time to rest and recharge over the break. Use this time to reflect, rejuvenate, and return in Term 3 with a renewed sense of purpose and energy.
We continue to strive for High Expectations, High Support and High Accountability - The Joey’s Way. This shared commitment guides all that we do and ensures that our students are nurtured, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Wishing you all a safe and restorative holiday.
