Sport at Joey's
Joey's Dragon Boat : WE NEED YOU !!!
One of the great things about Dragon Boating is that you don’t need any experience in any particular sport at all. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how fit you are or what your interests are, it is a sport that caters for everybody.
A team consists of 20 paddlers, a sweep ( boat captain who usually beats a drum to keep everyone in time ) and a steer who directs the boat.
On the 15th of September we will be competing in a Regatta in Nowra. The event is the 200m sprint, which can take a team approx 60 secs to complete.
There are a number of heats and then finals. We will be competing against some of the best School Dragon Boating teams in the country as well as many local schools.
Last year we came 3rd in the Schools Division 2 championships. We would love to win this division this year.
BUT WE NEED YOU !!!
We are so lucky to have Norman Heine, a very passionate, experienced, knowledgeable coach who will teach you everything you need to know.
We have a 6 week training program organised leading into the Nowra Regatta. We train straight after school on a Thursday at Skiiway Park Oak Flats between 4.15 and 5.15pm.
Cost of the training program ( including race day ) is $35.
Grab some friends and have a go at something different.
Please complete the attached permission note and return to school ASAP to avoid missing out on this awesome opportunity.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Cooper Makepeace who is off to England!
After participating in a Westham clinic in Sydney, Cooper was then selected to join a second clinic in 2018 on the Gold Coast where he trained with former Westham players and coaches, attended motivational talks and met with other kids from all over the country. He was notified earlier this year that he had been selected to go to England to join Westham and train with the Westham Academy, play football games and learn about fitness. His journey will begin in September where he will meet up with fellow members at the Gold Coast then travel on to England.
Well done on this wonderful achievement!
