AIME DAY AT UOW
Last Friday 2nd August was the second AIME day at UOW, where students had a fantastic day with their new AIME mentors. It was great to see the students excited as they walked out of each session. Grace, an AIME Mentor, said that it was amazing how each student opened up during story time and she felt that each student embraced this opportunity with open arms. Overall, the students had some fun and gained some experience in a non traditional classroom environment.
FEEDER SCHOOL CULTURAL DAY
On Friday 9th August we have students from our Feeder schools coming to spend the day. Our guests will paint a small cheese board in Aboriginal designs, make a raffia basket or fish, learn some dance and about Aboriginal tools and artifacts. We have Uncle Kevin teaching students and staff how to paint, Kim Hobbs teaching weaving and Jo and Toumanda teaching dance.
POLE PAINTING AS MESSAGE STICKS
A reminder that this term we'll have students continue to paint our poles, which will become message sticks at the entrance of the school. Once complete they will be placed in a concrete bed, which will eventually contain a Dry river bed made by all students and staff. Please remind your children to take part in this amazing opportunity.
