Hunter Graham, Skye Neilson, Tyler Noone and Paige Walton all received a Credit Award in the competition, being placed in the top 20% of students who competed from around the world.

Congratulations to all students who competed in this competition!!

CAPA

ARTSTOBER is well underway at St Joseph's this term. This initiative to increase the visibility of the Arts in our school involves a range of activities and events.  We are having "Guess the Bell" and "Who Am I" competitions, Open Mic sessions on Wednesday lunchtimes for students to perform, and an Open Rehearsal for students to watch the development of a finished Dramatic performance and gain an appreciation into this process.  Our very talented Guitar teacher Mr Glenn Whitehall will perform for students in the COLA at lunchtime on Thursday this week.

Another exciting venture will be the arrival of an Artist In Residence for Week 2.  Our resident artist is a professional artist who will bring her practice into our art spaces and work with Visual Art students in gaining understanding into artistic practices and materials processes. She will also be working with students to develop a site-specific installation in the school which will be revealed on Friday 25 October.  An Arts Walk is being conducted for Diocesan head Creative Arts teachers who are visiting our school on the day. This will allow them an insight into the work of our resident artist and a chance to view displays of work by students in the Creative Arts Block.

Students have been invited to complete a daily drawing challenge booklet to win prizes. These and other events during the first two weeks of term 4 are adding a fun and creative dimension to the start of the term and we hope students will become involved in a spirit of positivity.

On November 1, students from our feeder primary schools in Year 4 will attend a CAPA day experience at St Joseph's. This will provide a fun and educative experience in a range of Arts areas for these students and give them a taste of the way Arts operate in a high school setting.  We are very much looking forward to meeting them.

In Week 5 this term (November 15), a group of invited students will attend an Art and Spirituality Workshop Day. This will see students attend a talk in the morning with Sr Veronica Chandler at The Abbey in Jamberoo and afterward, a painting workshop back at school to explore ideas about the land and its place in our spiritual journey.
