Congratulations to the Creative Arts Department for a wonderful Artstober and our visiting artist in residence Karolina Venter. The students had a wonderful fortnight and so creative.

Our Junior SRC training also went well and thank you to Ms Madaschi for her organisation. It was interesting to see our students' view on leadership connecting ethical choices and leadership. Thank you to our parents who attended on the day to give another perspective, your support was much appreciated.  Our senior SRC members are also supporting the junior SRC in their projects throughout 2020 and were enthusiastic in their participation.

Year 10 have started their new classes well and their teachers, in most cases, have noted an increase in application. For Year 7 - 9 just a reminder for the information night on Monday at 7pm. The location will be announced on Monday to students depending on the number of RSVP's.

Our leadership team attended a presentation by Brene Brown earlier in the year. I brought the concept of vulnerability up with our junior student leaders. They were unfamiliar with the term, but their perspective made it interesting, especially when we asked whose opinion matters and who do you treat the worst, as often the answer is the same - as they are the ones that love us most. But sometimes our behaviours are about trying to impress 'strangers' or peers, and not always in a positive way. Reflecting on being vulnerable only strengthens our personal code of ethics. Being in any leadership position you have to trust those around you to work as part of the team - you don't have to have all the answers. A team brings strengths to any organisation and for education, it works best when teachers and parents are the team wanting the best for the young people in our care. Being vulnerable leaves you open to hurt but can also bring great joy ..... it is all in making wise choices.

Congratulations to Mr Zac Ellul for winning the Teachers Guild Early Career Teacher last Friday night. Well done!  For a full article of the event, please click here.
