2019 UOW DEBATING COMPETITION
On Friday November 22, the year 8 and year 11 debating teams competed in the University of Wollongong Schools Debating Competition along with their coach, Mrs Schneider. The day consisted of three debates, one prepared and two impromptu, focusing on topics relating to ‘Climate Change’, ‘Social Media’ and ‘Classic texts in English Literature’. Each team was very competitive, with the seniors winning two and the juniors one of their three debates. The students developed valuable skills in devising and presenting a logical argument and speaking in a convincing and persuasive manner. They proudly represented our school and had an enjoyable day meeting and debating against students from St Mary’s Star of the Sea College, Smith’s Hill High School, Broughton Anglican College and Braidwood Central School.
Year 8 team – Anastasia Bierczynski, Tayissa Buchanan, Grace Pomery and Serena Woolfe.
Year 11 team – Dominic Plattner, Ethan Westlake, Zachary Johnson and Kyna Gella.

YEAR 12 HOSPITALITY
Year 12 Hospitality classes got to learn how to safely use, clean and maintain our large free standing mixer to make 2 x 5kg batches of pizza dough. These were left to cold proove in fridge overnight. This dough was then rolled, topped and baked into a range of savoury and sweet pizzas. Pesto, potato, pinenut and parmesan, tomato, mozzarella & basil, as well as Chorizo, roast capsicum, artichoke and tomato passata. Sweet varieties were-fudge sauce, marshmallow and almond; butterscotch, banana and pecan; mascarpone and berry.
The classes did a great job with many staff enjoying what the students could not eat.
