School Merit System
A reminder to parents that at St Joseph's we have introduced a new Merit System this year. Your students may have already received a number of Merit Stamps at the back of their diary for displaying behaviours consistent with respect for self, others, learning and the environment. Please take some time to check your child's SOLE Merits progress on page 140 of the diary when you are signing the diary this week so that this positive reinforcement your child has been given at school can be shared by you at home as well.

Monitoring Student Progress via the Sentral Parent Portal
Teachers are also communicating with parents on a regular basis via Sentral Notes to Parents and Sentral Reward Merits and Demerits as applicable. Parents are advised that this is an excellent way to keep track of your child's progress at school, rather than waiting until the end of each semester. Checking your child's record on the Sentral portal is recommended for all parents at least once a fortnight, so that staff and parents can work together to ensure the best possible education for your child.
Please feel free to contact your child's teacher should you wish to discuss any aspects of your child's progress after checking the Sentral Parent Portal. If you notice concerns across a number of subject areas you may wish to contact your child's Year Coordinator to discuss strategies and support to improve your child's learning.  Regular checks to oversee each child's progress at school are also being conducted by your child's Year Coordinator.
If parents have not already done so, you can register for portal access by following the link on our school website (https://sentral.sjchsdow.catholic.edu.au/portal/register). To access your child's details you will need the unique access key issued to you. If you have lost this key you can contact Mrs Penny Corradini in the Curriculum Office at Parent Portal Enquiry.

Bus Safety Awareness
We would like to remind all students of the importance of acting appropriately and with safety when they are travelling to and from school on the bus. The instructions of Bus Drivers are to be adhered to by all students.
Students are reminded that they are not to cross in front of buses after alighting.  This action is life-threatening and falls within "highly dangerous" behaviour and may result in the student not being allowed to travel on the bus.
