From the Principal
Another interesting fortnight in the world and at school. I hope you have had a chance to see our Facebook page and the wonderful opportunity students have had in the studio space with recording, thank you to Mr Dennelly for all his hard work getting this up and running. Next year we will be offering the VET entertainment framework for the first time so students will have the opportunity to gain a qualification in this area of interest. (Unfortunately at the moment not much work out there! But it will eventually return to normal performances and events and aren’t we all looking forward to that).
In this coming week we have the Director of Schools and the Bishop visiting and having a chat with our Year 12 Captains and SRC, this is in lieu of the normal full Year 12 gathering. This is an opportunity for our students to give feedback to the leaders of our system and discuss their concerns and hopes for the future.
Over the next few weeks Year 10 students will be participating in Subject selection for Year 11. Students should see this as a way of exploring options, it is the time to try new things and develop skills. The best advice is follow your passion. In today's job markets the research shows that people change direction and jobs much more frequently than in the past and the opportunities for further education and training are so much more available albeit at a cost but can lead to career progression and fulfilment so don’t feel locked in! Just remember that our world needs researchers, scientists, medical personnel, builders and tradies, carers, teachers and business people who have an ethical and moral compass and demonstrate compassion that can make the world a better place and students of St Joseph’s can certainly do that.
