ST JOSEPH'S SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

We had a fantastic day at Integral Energy Park for our 2021 St Joseph’s Cross Country Carnival. It was an interactive day with students participating in a variety of activities such as the ‘Extreme Fun Run’ inflatable obstacle course, trivia, fun games, ‘Minute to Win It’ activities and the cross country run or walk. It was wonderful to see so many students engaging in the activities and having fun with their peers. Thank you to our Joey's staff and the committee members from Kembla Joggers for the roles they played in making the day a huge success .

DIOCESEAN CROSS COUNTRY

On Monday the 26of April, 50 St Joseph’s student representatives headed to Nowra to take on the Diocese Cross Country Carnival. The day kicked off with the 12-year girls taking on the frosty morning with a 3km run followed by the 12-year boys. It was great to see all the students encouraging and cheering each other on as they ran around the course. A special congratulations to Tayissa Buchanan who took out the U15’s age group with a large lead from second place, as well as Emily Allen who took out the U17 girls division.

Congratulations also to Lochie Haining who came in second for the U16 boys, Grace Pomery coming in 3^rd for the U16 girls and Breanna Cresswell finishing in 9th place in the U14 girls age group. Well done, amazing effort! I would like to acknowledge and thank Collins Kinyua and Anthony Wira for turning up to the carnival despite this busy time for them as well as putting in the effort to run the 6km and 8km with a smile on their faces the whole way around. Well done boys amazing team commitment and effort.

Overall, it was a great day shared by all who participated, that was filled with excellent sportsmanship and the coming together of students from all schools within the Diocese. A special thank you to Mrs Sharkey and Mrs Behl who acted as officials for the day keeping everyone safe and helping the day run smoothly.

Best of luck to the students who finished in the top 6 as they will represent the Wollongong Diocese at the NSWCCC Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek on Tuesday 8th June.    Miss Cavanagh

SP NETBALL CLINICS

We have been very fortunate to have Susan Pettitt, former Australian International netball player, conduct clinics for our prospective representative netball players. These clinics are focusing on skill development and have been engaging, meaningful and fun. Susan will conduct three sessions on Thursday afternoons over the next few weeks.
