Our team displayed incredible talent, commitment, and teamwork throughout the tournament, eventually securing a 3rd place finish. The tournament began with a fiercely contested match against Kiama High School and then in our second game we faced St Mary’s. In both games our girls showed fierce determination and their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship were evident in every match they played. This experience will undoubtedly serve as a valuable learning opportunity, motivating them to continue improving at training as we prepare for our gala day in term 4.

Elite/Aspiring Athlete Excursion
The Bai Med Excursion for the Elite/Aspiring Athletes Program proved to be an invaluable experience for our students, offering a unique combination of fitness testing, a fitness circuit, and a psychology education session with Condor Performance. Held at the Bai Med Performance Centre in Figtree, the excursion provided the athletes with an opportunity to reflect and improve on their physical and mental performance in their respective sports.
The day commenced with comprehensive fitness testing conducted by the experienced team from Bai Med. The athletes underwent a series of tests designed to assess their physical capabilities and identify areas for improvement. These tests included measurements of speed, agility, strength, endurance, and flexibility. It was great to see so much improvement from these students since Term 1 testing.
Following the fitness testing, the athletes embarked on a challenging fitness circuit designed to improve their overall strength, endurance, and agility. The circuit consisted of a series of stations, each focusing on different aspects of physical fitness. The athletes rotated through the stations, engaging in exercises such as resistance training, plyometrics, speed drills, and core strengthening.
In addition to the physical aspects of performance, the excursion included a psychology education session facilitated by Condor Performance, renowned experts in sport psychology. The session aimed to equip the athletes with valuable mental skills and strategies to optimise their performance and well-being.
The session covered various topics including goal setting, mental toughness, focus and concentration, managing pressure, and visualisation techniques. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and real-life examples, the athletes gained a deeper understanding of the psychological aspects of athletic performance and how they can harness mental strength to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
The athletes demonstrated exceptional commitment, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn throughout the excursion. Their dedication to pushing their limits and embracing new challenges was truly inspiring. The knowledge gained from the fitness testing and the psychology education session will undoubtedly benefit the athletes in their ongoing athletic pursuits.

The Nook is a student-voice, student-led initiative to promote conversation/friendship across year groups in an inclusive environment. Everyone is welcome and all have a place at The Joey's Nook, founded and run by the Youth Ministry Leaders.
The theme for this week was respect. We spoke about what respect means as one of our Josephite values then created heart shaped paper chains where students wrote qualities they valued in people, people they respect or people who have shown them respect.

Mental Mindset of Champions
Studies have revealed a common trait among successful people – champions in their field. Attitude and mindset are critical ingredients to the success of champions.
- Knowing how to change your mindset is a critical factor in achieving the goals you set.
- Having a success mindset helps you focus and refocus more easily.
- A success mindset helps you cope with and manage difficulties in life.
- Opportunity Radar. Successful people see opportunities where most other people don’t. They recognise that opportunities don't always come gift-wrapped. Often they come wrapped in a problem or an idea everyone else has missed. The skill to see opportunities where others are unable serves you well. Focusing on what you learned and how to improve rather than the problem or mistakes helps you seize opportunities that others may ignore.
- Goal Laser. Successful people have developed the part of their brain that is like a goal laser. It helps you take aim at what you want out of life without allowing the static of distractions and stressors to interfere. It gives you the patience to delay gratification without getting sidetracked along the way. Studies show people with highly focused goal lasers outperform their less self-directed peers because they intentionally and deliberately take steps to accomplish the important things to them. They can translate goals into actions.
- Effort Accelerator. Successful people also had a strong effort accelerator. This helps them roll over obstacles and sidestep distractions as they march steadily towards their personal best. Successful people are NOT always pumped up and motivated to do what they have to do, but they do it nonetheless. Specifically, they bring consistency, reliability, and steadiness. Developing your Effort accelerator means you have persistence and can perform well even when tasks are boring.
